This cat shrine is in Kagoshima in Japan. It lies in a beautiful garden that was once the property of the local lord.
The billboard explains it all. As a long time cat person, I know that this is absolutely true. All of my cats have known exactly when it is 4.00pm. It’s not quite dinner time, but you’d better be getting ready.
There’s a special place where you can add a prayer tag for your own feline loved ones. The lady in the gift shop was not going to sell me a tag, until I explained it was for my two deceased friends, George and Mary. She’d thought I simply wanted a souvenir.

This is the most beautiful, and honorable, memorial for cats I have ever seen. Do you think you will go back? If you ever plan to, I would like to send you some money so you can purchase little tags for my beloved cats, Quimby, Smathers, and Duggan. Christine, St. Paul, MN

I’d love to go back, but it wont be for a few years yet, sadly. I’ll do a bit of research and see if there’s a contact for them.

This is truly bonkers and truly fantastic all at the same time. I shall add it to my list of places I’d like to visit.
