This week, share with us your take on “depth”
This is colour from the depths of the earth, deposits of red ochre and white clay used and probably traded by the island’s original inhabitants. We will never know the full depth of the history of this place.
From the journal of Lt Bradley.
Saturday 8th March 1789. “Several of the natives came to us, painted very whimsically with pipe clay and red ochre, both which is plenty on the Island, the pipe clay just under the sand on the beach round the rocks.”Dangar Island, Australia

The path to the beach is starting to wear away. The locals must have had a pretty classy place down there, fresh oyster bar, seafood restaurant and a place to get your make up 😉
